RE: A7SS starter

No electric starter, BUT, because of the rotary valve setup, the alternator could not be mounted on the crankshaft, and so it was set up behind the cylinders and LOOKED for all the world like an electric starter, something this bike surely did NOT require. Note: there were two different makers for the alternator, I´m not sure that the ignition points were interchangable. Nearly made a perfect jerk of myself in the driveway of a local bike shop, right after I got my 1970 A7--grabbed the throttle hard on the way out and pulled a near-vertical wheelie, well beyond what I expected, but recovered control. Only problem I had was lead-fouloing of sparkplugs. Not clever enough to buy Amoco unleaded, only unleaded gas available, then.
