I have the same bike and dont have any problems you are describing.my tires are in descent shape and after a wheelie or two the bike still rides straight.I rode another r1 2004 with a steering damper, it was like night and day. come spring first thing im buying is dampner.once u dial it in its handles a million times better, frt tire, dampner ur gonna wish u had done it earlier. ask anyone.ohlins what a difference.cadillac worth every penny, plus save ur life.
