Engine racing with choke off?

Bike was sitting for about a month or two... Now it seems as if the the choke is reversed, must be almost all the way off for it to start and once running the motor races of I turn off the choke, but idles fine if I turn it mostly on... I´m assuming this is a carb issue, is there anything I can try short of removing and cleaning the carb?
