The Dakar now has over 900 miles. I made a 350 mile round-trip last weekend for the 600 mile run-in service. Cost was $193 for parts/labor. I´ve installed a Wunderlich Ergo tall windscreen and cruising at 70-90mph is now comfortable. There is slight buffeting on the upper arms and the airflow hits near the top of my helmet. Ducking my head 3-4" is much quieter but not comfortable. Raising my head makes no difference which tells me the short screen may have worked well enough. I easily see over the top of this tall screen with a view of the ground less than 20´ ahead. I had the speedometer checked and found it reads 3mph fast at 60-80. Cruising at an indicated 80 (77 actual) got me 53mpg on the first leg of my weekend trip. Doing 85 (82) resulted in 55mpg. The bike cruises effortlessly over 80. In coming weeks I expect to make a 1,200 mile trip which will take me above 8,000-9,000´ at times. The overall speed will be less and I expect mileage will improve. A Cortech tank bag and tail bag hold enough gear/clothes for 3 days and attach easily to the bike. No problems with the bike so far.
