Hi Garth, I have the same bike and it is very easy to check the oil level. When the engine is cold, put the bike on its vertical support, start the engine and do not move anything. Just let the engine and oil pump work for 2 minutes. Then stop the engine and the level of oil is ready to be measured. It is very important not to drive with the oil lever over the maximum, nor under the minimum. To oil the chain I use Putoline specific Chain Oil, nothing special. Just avoid the chain to get dry. It also depends on the weather, or if you drive over dusty ways. Regarding the comfort range I do not know what to say. I do not care much about it with my bike. On the highway I use to go between 4.000 and 5.000 rpm. However here in Europe the speed limit is higher (about 75 Mph) so I do not have potencial problems with the road police. If you change the oil appropiately, and let the engine get warm before raising the rpm, you hava a cheap maintenance bike for a very long time. Regards, Jorge. |
