Hi Richard, I bought mine about 2 years ago ( is the 2011 model, though I think all is the same)anyhow, MY thoughts about service intervals is this. I am religious about oil changes - new oil and filter every 5000 k´s or 3125 miles. From my experience, engine wear is greatly reduced by keeping oil as fresh as possible.
My bike has 17500ks/11000 miles , so 20K /12k miles service coming up, I want a thorough inspection of engine/condition. Judging by oil colour it should be sweet.
It also took about 8000miles to start to free up/run in/rev properly.
My thoughts!
