Bought my Phantom as my first bike ever at age 58 after the MSF course and passing. 2 weeks of ridng in my gated community and now I ride every day to work and for pleasure only missing 4 days since April 28th. This bike has given me no problems at all, it has a recall on the lean shutoff that I need to manage. I have read that the bike does not the best braking, is underpowered and is not nimble. I would not know any better and am very happy with my experiences, being my first bike I had no comparisons. Perhaps a 750 is too large for a new rider but given that she is what I have I have had to learn how to manage the skills necessary to ride well and safe. I think she handles better than I can handle her but I have learned to manage her well in small spaces, on rough roads, have gotten into some gravel and sand with no incidents but she is not an off road bike. Being a short guy the forward controls could have been considered challenging but I have adapted well enough, I should probably adjust the shifter up to firmly get my toe under it but my boot sole edge works well in shifting if my practice is solid. I have leaned her over in curves pretty hard but have scraped bottom (yet). Miss Phantom treats me very well! |
