I have the same problem. I was gifted a maxim 700 that had been tore down to make a chopper/bobber and ended staying tore apart for about 9 yrs. I just got it rebuilt and mostly put together, when I start my bike it wants to jump the rpms up to what sounds like it wants to explode and smoke comes out my carbs. If you figured out the solution please email me and help me out. I could use all the help I can get. Thanks and ride safe
