I would not recommend buying the XL883 for 2 people riding. I have an 883 and 1200(my wife rides). You will not have any problem with the 1200 handling 2 riders(after adjusting rear suspension for load). In any case, you will have to up grade the seat to be comfortable.The 883 has 51 lbs of torque compared to 79 with the 1200.
