First of all we need more info. The question is, how does it run once it is started? 2 cylinders or 4? Is it running on all the cylinders once it is started. One way to tell this is to reach down and quickly tap the exhaust pipes one at a time. This has to be done IMMEDIATELY as soon as it starts, otherwise you are going to get burned. Tap each pipe for each individual cylinder to see if it is beginning to get warm. They get hot very quickly. DON´T GRAB THE PIPE, merely tap it quickly in a brushing fashion. If one of the pipes gets hot quicker than the other/s this indicates you are not getting fuel or spark evenly to all cylinders
If you are having trouble getting it to start try a bit of starting fluid in the breather or air intake. This will tell you if it is indeed a fuel problem or not. If it fires right up you will know it is fuel related. Why did you change the battery and rectifier? How often is the bike started or been sitting? Good compression??
My first thought is lack of fuel, but checking a few things will give a better idea.
