Congrats on your purchase. You´ll soon be ready to "accessorize" if you haven´t begun to do so already. My custom 2005 is here: http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/memberdetail.cfm?user_ID=704044 I bought it earlier this year and have had it painted and added many other things to it. The SEAT replacement was one of the best things I did. It´s a Corbin dual touring model and if you buy it from Corbin over the phone, you´ll pay much less than you will from suppliers. This one was $426, delivered, in my choice of leather and made to fit ME. Check their website then call them to place your order. Nice people. The HardChrome 3" pipes were a nice improvement also but were extremely LOUD.I modified mine to quiet them down but DG Hard chrome (mfr.) also sells replacement baffles that will do this. I added the K&N air filter and dynojet kit. It´s recommended when you begin doing modifications that improve airflow, like the above. BY FAR, the most dramatic preformance and efficiency improvement you can make to your bike is the complete removal of the intake "snorkel" from the stock air box. If you do this, be prepared to not only change the main jet and needle but also the "slow" or primary jet in the carb. Both can be changed -without- removing the carb from the bike, although you´ll have to remove the tank. The Dynojet kit has all the pieces and instructions to do this on the main jet but you´ll have to buy the appropriate pilot jet from the dealer ($2). The difference is phenomenal!! One more thing: Make sure to buy a good full-faced helmet and a full set of leathers, then USE them. I went down on mine in a hard corner. The helmet was totaled (insurance replaced it) and the leathers literally saved my hide-all of it (ins. replaced those too) The crashbar or engine guard or freeway bar, whatever you want to call it, most likely saved me a broken right leg. It´s a Cobra bar and like the safety gear, worth every dime I paid for it. Saved the engine too. Ride safe. If you have questions, ask away! Somebody needs to start a Honda Shadow Aero-specific newgroup. If you find one, please let me know at the address posted. Thanks! Randy |
