Whisking noise

Just bought 05 fatty,been running well for a month,gas light came on,pushing to station,was backfiring, wanting to die,fueled up,same way to get it home,next morning changed the plugs,fired up,but getting a whisking sound from airfilter,took it off,clean,NOT a mechanic,thought I better seek advise from those who know. Any thoughts?
