I am a very happy 2004 R1200CLC owner. There are issues with the bike right out of the box, but with TLC you can overcome most of them. I have been riding BMW´s for 40 years, almost exclusively the pre-1970 /2 model R69S, but have found this to be a reasonable replacement. I am still not pleased with the Pull-To-The-Right issue, and the removal of lateral adjustment capabilities for the rear wheel. I am not impressed with the lack of ports to plug in helmet to helmet, radio, and CB. The radio appears to be an afterthought. I think a lot more thought could have gone into building these components into the fairing design to make this Cruiser into a respectable Touring Cruiser. The centerstand should never have been removed. Lastly, I don´t appreciate not being given the full horsepower capability of the engine, particularly the narrow throttle body and de-tuned chip. Too much of the wrong kind of thinking went into competing with Harley. It could have been easily done if the American Cruiser market was more thoroughly understood. All that whining aside, I absolutely love the motorcycle. I sold a Harley Ultra-Classic in order to buy it, and don´t miss the Harley in the least. The Harley was way too hot and heavy, and it´s center of gravity too high. |
