Key light question!

I just bought a 2004 sportster custom that has 9 NINE! miles on it
However I have a problem with the key that came with it.

It will not start or even turn over. Not even the horn will blow and the blinkers will not work and I THINK I have the wrong key since there is a light on the "dash" looking like a key and it blinks constantly even with thr key out.

The sale was legit since I bought it from the insurance company and the bike was NOT stolen.

Please advice
