I own an 87 sporty wiht only 8,000 miles on it. My dad first purchased it about six years ago and maybe rode it twice. I took it over when i turned 16, and have owned it for two years now. A couple of performance changes i have made so far, are a S$S super carb, 2 inch slash cut drag pipes, T-bar handlebars, cams (which made a night and day difference in the overall ride and performance of the bike), a La Pera low profile leather seat, and another huge difference is the forward controls. They allow you to kick back like a big cruiser and enjoy the ride instead of sitting stiff and upright. I also recommend a new set of tires if the originals are still on there, i never knew how low mine were until i bought a set of new ones and they dramatically improved the handling.
