Backfires nearly always happen when youfan the throttle to start a cold engine. The kill switch when switched on and off will cause a backfire. Two things to remember. One, don´t fan the throttle when engine is not running. If cold just leave throttle in idle and start with choke on. If you use kill switch, be sure you turn the key off before returning kill switch back to run.
