My first Harley! WOW

After many years of UJM (universal Japanese Motorcycle) I was ready for a change. My wife and I saw this bike and fell in love. After a hefty sum of change we walked away from the dealers with a new Harley.

It didn´t take but a day to figure out that everything they said the Harley mystique was true. For those of you who have never ridden or owned a real Harley you can´t explain the difference until you actually ride one. It´s just that cool.

Considering just how much this thing weighs,625lbs dry, it really handles well around town. Slow speed handling in parking lots is a little ponderous. Once you get moving though, things really smooth out. My only complaint is that it´s too easy to scrape the pegs while leaning into a corner. Other than that it handles dead steady cruising.

The engine is unlike any inline I´ve ever ridden. The big V is encredibly torquey. You can tool around town in 3rd or 4th gear an accelerate without downshifting. My only complaint is the carb. I wish fuel injection was available in 2003. The bike really take a long time to warm up. I had a set of Screaming Eagle slip ons and the air cleaner kit installed. That really wakes up the engine. Another plus is the sound. That thing really has a low rumble.

In conclusion, if you´ve never owned or ridden a Harley do yourself a favor and buy one. You will not regret it. I know I didn´t.
