my first bike

This was my first motorcyle, purchased new in 1979 and ridden for quite a few years around northern Wisconsin, and then, later in Florida. For those who say smaller displacement motorcycles can´t handle the demands of extended highway touring, let me give this. I rode this bike in 1984 from Miami, FL, to Evansville, WI, over 1,500 miles, 2-up, with my wife, and luggage, over a 3 day period, taking secondary state highways and some interstate. The bike performed flawlessly, didn´t miss a beat, kick-started every time, and got us there, and back home again. True, the national speed limit back then was 55 mph, but this bike runs all day at 65 to 70, if you want it to. It was a great bike, and I wish I still had it. | |
