I havn´t ridden for about 15 years and wanted a smaller bike for 2 reasons, 1 to get back into it and 2 my wife is starting on a Marauder 250 and will take over this one after she rides for a year or so on the 250. | ||||||
The bike was a good price for what you get, mine had only 7,900 kms with aprox Dollars 3,000 in extras on it and I paid Dollars 5,750 Canadian for it in March 2009. The bike has lots of chrome, the paint is black with a blue fleck in it, alloy wheels, and plenty of others, all in all it is a very nice looking bike. I have the cobra pipes on it giving it a real nice sound, but not too loud. I´m a 6´-1´ guy and the bike is a little short for me in peg positioning, etc but it is very rideable (far better than the 750 shadow, who is even shorter yet). The bike does have plenty of power for me even with a passenger on it, my wife and I weight about 300 lbs total. I did change the front sprocket right away from the 15 tooth to the 17 tooth, the bike was too high of RPM on the highway, always looking for the 6th gear that it doesn´t have. The sprocket change was a big help and no issue off the line either, instead of shifting to 2nd half way through the intersection I make it almost all the way through now. I find the the front wanders a bit with uneven pavement and grooves in the road, with some research I found that this is common a long or longer rake angle. I´ve heard that the bike doesn´t like cold starts very much but I don´t seam to have much difficulty with it. I do like the safety features on the bike, i.e. the kill switch on the kick stand; if you put the bike into gear and the kick stand is down it kills the motor or won´t start in gear with the stand down. All in all the bike is I think a good start for myself and I think my wife will get a few years of enjoyment out of it as well or at least until she is ready to move up and on! |
