I bought this as a second bike to ride on longer trips.

I have an 05 triumph speed triple 1050 which I think is great but not much for touring. Seven of us were to tour Ireland (1000 mile route) and I bought the 05 TDM to do it on. I blasted the wicklow mountains, ring of Kerry, Donegal and the awesome Antrim coast with no probs. I left my mates struggling on sports bikes. The pace the tdm can carry is fantastic. On the power deep in the corner punching out while the others bumped, shook and tried to get upright asap to get their power on to catch up. The triumph is faster on the right road no doubt but there´s very few roads like that in Ireland. Did I mention that you can walk when you get off it. The mates had to do ten minutes of stretches ect. It feels underpowered sometimes and I need to take a second ´bite´ of the throttle to wring it out. The mates scoff at it´s looks but who´s laughing when you´re first there and can miss every other petrol station. If Yamaha put another cylinder on this and upped the BHP by about 20 it would be unbeatable. | |
