This bike is the European standard bike, built for an small trip kind of use, a Boulevard cruiser, as Yamaha themselves called it. My opinion, a truly classical bike from Yamaha! | ||||||
In the times when the cruisers had found the way into bikers hart, there was the big engine vee-twins 1000cc and 1100cc that quite much was sold to the elderly mass of the bikers. Also this bike the same year was dealing with the new Honda VF1100C. A vee-four engined, -and that bike, -the Honda, had the world record speed amongst the rest of them serial production bikes ever to be made. The XV1000SE is a bit more sophisticated bike, about half the horse power, and little less torque from the Honda vee-four. What was the fine thing about this bike, I remember was the ease, and fine engine power/ torque. Downshifts were not needed, it had plenty of power from even the lowest rpm´s. Quiet deep rumbling from the mufflers, and in fact I couldn´t find enough downhills, so that I would hear the engine´s rumbling as I held the declaration alive. At riding the bike, I would say that it was very comfortable with the first half an hour, then it could be some pain, as your butt would ´freeze´. Built some forwarded pegs, and the bike really was getting more comfortable. I was just remembering that I had so much great hours on this bikes seat! Could not possibly become any better, was my thoughts back then! It had little weight, and a great torque, which mad it an really fun bike to handle. It had great ground clearance, and would follow any sport bike back in the day! Never failed me once, just checked my oil, and good to go. Also it was a great looking bike for it´s time and when seeing it today, I certainly don´t have lost my interest for it! Only 1800 about were made, and it is a seldom bike to spot now some 30 years later! My opinion, a truly classical bike from Yamaha! |
