If you are looking to add a little sizzle to the joys of touring, then this is the bike for you. I always marvel at the four count passing ability of this bike: on 1 you pull up behind the vehicle you want to pass, on 2 you pull out, on three you open the throttle and just hang on, and on 4 you are back in your lane, and well in front of the vehicle you just passed. You just have to love it. | ||||||
I have owned the bike now for three years and it has been flawless......not a single problem to fix. I should qualify this statement by pointing out that there is a recall to replace the second gear cog, and a brake switch which causes false signals about faulty ABS. I have not done either of these repairs as yet, and after 42,000 kms using the present 2nd gear, I am not too worried about it failing any time soon. I will be having the recall issues attended to this winter while the bike is off the road. Ride quality is excellent, and you can adjust the damping and rebound on the front forks, and chose hard or soft for the rear suspension. Braking is phenomenal. I have hit them hard many times, and the bike crouches down beneath you and comes to a very effective stop in short order. ABS will kick in as required. I`m on my second set of plugs, which I put in at 12,000 kms, and I`m now at 42,000, and it still runs like a top. Throttle synchronization does smooth out a bit of growl , which will develop as the air filter clogs up, but it is only noticeable to an ear familiar with the subtle sounds of this engine. Value is excellent, as it includes side bags, windshield, heated grips, traction control, led lighting, and slipper clutch. I particularly enjoy the nimble way the bike handles on twisty highways, where it is very easy to flip the bike left and right as required. It holds a line beautifully, and I`m sure it has capabilities far beyond my riding skills. My only reservation is that the bike is heavy, and you must stay alert when riding at very slow speeds to insure you avoid sudden unintended tip overs. |
