I recently completed the first long trip in company on my BV (Beverly) 400 scooter, just over 2000 kilometres in 4 days. I experienced a variety of conditions from thunderstorms, sunshine and for most of the trip consistent light rain. The East coast of Australia had experienced major flooding in the previous month, potholes were everywhere. The Beverley never gave me a moments trouble mostly travelling in the 110 to 120kph range. I was comfortable on the seat and the windscreen did it’s job. My scooter is now fitted with a Shad 39l top box and I also had a pair of Corazzo soft panniers and I was able to carry everything I wanted to with space left over for more. My scooter gives me a consistent 29.5 ks per litre in normal use which is mostly day trips, and that improves in suburban riding to about 31. On my trip I noticed that my consumption dropped to 26 and I put this down to the drag from the soft panniers. I enjoy every trip long or short that I do on this scooter which is a true all rounder. One gripe! The USB charging port is not as useful as the cigarette lighter type on the 350’s and a phone charging cable left connected will eventually discharge the battery to an unacceptable level. |
