2019 ktm 150 xc w-e (carburetor) review. Old dirt rider(67), with this new purchase Aug 2020 on clearance. Dollars 6751 plus shipping from Austria (Dollars 850) Ugh.. but like the car industry, they make money and You come out of the deal feeling you didn´t get schawansted to bad. | ||||||
I purchased this bike because of previous Ktm bikes I have owned. Products made well and hold up under xtreme conditions for years. Other competitors did not offer Quality compared. This being said, I now own a Woods bike which is used 99% of the time used in single track riding. I added the protection on it. Mostly EE gear, handguards, skid plate, radiator, F/R rotor guards. Also did a EE low seat but it wasn´t bad, just I am 5.6´ and the lower seat helps me in the woods. It has the low end grunt with the 6-speed wide ratio transmission which will lug through the woods. Setup is fine. Good quality on machine and bike. Offers F/R lights, Kick start and E-start. E-start is a nice option when needing a start on a hill and also works with clutch pulled in and in gear. Bike runs great and is all of what is expected in a race ready bike. Recently I have read of some issues that got my attention. It has the Mikuni TMX38 carburetor on it. For some reason there is a lot of haters on this. Surprising because in the 1960s we had bikes made in japan that lasted for years. I have had Keihin carburetors that had to be jetted and re-worked on also. All this being said, I did replace the Jet block seal and float needle o-ring purchased from JD jetting as a fix for the blurbly condition ( Dollars 7.95). This all due to the seal being deformed or starting to deform. Also, I inspected the stock reed cage while I was in there and I did have light about a dime on the right and left side. So, Bit the bullet and purchased the V-force4r reed cage setup to eliminate the blurb after coming out of woods and then hitting the throttle blast circuit. I went this route because I can´t see spending more extra money on a Lectron or Keihin. I am using the motorex 2T premix and 4T trans fluids. Carburetor setup is 6BFY43-74 needle, 2nd clip pos, 470 Main, 30 IdleJet, 1.5 air. The manual listing is really helpful to the user to jet for your location. For what I do with the bike is fine and suits my needs as a weekend rider and occasional poker run. To old now to race anymore. So, as far now I have a very dependable fine running dirt bike that I know will give me years of fun woods riding. The lightness, power, gearing makes it a little mountain goat and brings a smile to me. Fun factor = 100%. |
