Having owned this bike for some years I am impressed at how much it holds its own against the others supposedly in its class. And to set matters straight it was built to be a TRIBUTE to the Indian Chief, NOT a Clone! | ||||||
I am the third owner of a 1999 Drifter. The Drifters are always things of beauty and there are no two alike. That´s the way we VDOG people like it. The Drifter lets you express your individuality and think outside the box. Most people think that because its a Japanese bike its all Japanese. WELL, those folks need to think again! The first Drifter called ´The Super Chief´ came about from a discussion of American Riders and was designed and built by and American, Denny Berg. With the drawing and parts he was given, Berg created a masterpiece that was intended to be a TRIBUTE to the 1948 Indian Chief. All of us in the Drifter community consider him the ´creator´ of our dream bikes. The Drifter is a sound motorcycle and holds it own on the road with any cruiser/tour bike you can name. It is now August 2015 and I just got back from Drift-In 2015 held in Pikeville, KY. I rode my Drifter there and back pulling a trailer behind it with no issues and had a wonderful time. That was 1753 miles with several group runs included. OUR Drifter family continues to grow. I invite you to come see us sometime and you will see what we mean by family. |
