This bike was the best of the best at the time it was built. It was well behaved, had a broad power band and great ground clearance. Excellent bike but needed some minor mods to make it better. | ||||||
Best mods for this bike were: 1. Vance and Hines racing headers 2. Re-Jet carbs for above 3. Change back sprocket (I think it was 32 or 33 teeth) 4. Change fork oil weight and adjust damping 5. Change back shock 6. Mobil-1 50 Weight Synthetic Racing oil 7. Steering damper required! - Prone to tank slappers 8. Tires (of course!) 9. Clean slag out of motor (from original casting) Check the cams regularly! Honda VF 750 was one of the smoothest bikes (even by today´s standards) because of the V4 engine. It slid pretty evenly (with good tires anyway) and would never let you down. The only negative was the 16 inch front tire was very prone to tank slappers. A simple steering damper resolved this issue. |
