Awesome bike, performs as advertised. I purchased my 2012 F800GS Trophy edition new in 2012 to bridge the gap between my 1800 Goldwing, which I have 135k miles on, and my two 450´s, one for track, and one set up for desert. | ||||||
This bike does better than I had anticipated. I replaced the stock front fork springs with Race Tech´s and vastly improved both the on and off road handling and almost eliminated the ´nose dive´ when braking hard with front brake. My additions to the bike are: Touratech panniers, SW Motech crash bars, slightly taller Touratech windshield, extra Rigid industries lights, Touratech tank bag, bar risers, and rear tail rack. I´ve put 20k miles on the bike, almost all off road in some extremely technical trails and jeep roads. My complaints are none although it would be nice to have adjustments on the front suspension. I rode it back to back with my friends ´17 Africa Twin and while the AT has many more electronics (as do all the new ones), and clearly more engine, and is an equally great bike, my nod still goes to the little Beemer as it does feel smaller than the AT. That being said if you´re short, like me, 5´6´, seat height, wheelbase, and weight all are very important. When standing on the pegs you feel like you´re just riding an overgrown 450. All in all, its a great bike. |
