My bike is a 1992 Special Edition of the 1000S that was built by the factory for the UK market and for its importers 3X Cross Motorcycles. It has a bikini fairing and these bikes were all painted in bright red from the factory and is not a black or green bike repainted. | ||||||
I came across my low mileage 1992 Moto Guzzi 100SE on a ride out in early 1994. I don’t think the shop knew what they had, but then I again neither did I. I had been fancying something different for a while and when I saw this and it fitted the bill and even though I took it out for a test ride on a cold and wet day I was still smitten. When I returned to the shop, I had decided to buy it even though it was completely different to anything I had had before. The salesman was obviously desperate to sell it and dropped the price before I said anything. The price kept going down without me really having to say anything, therefore I got what I believe was a good deal. I have owned the bike for almost 26 years and loved most of my time with the bike even though I don’t get to ride it much. It isn’t the most comfortable, fastest, reliable or easiest bike to ride and it’s definitely not the most up to date bike out there, even when it was new. But who cares when you can listen to the fantastic sound it makes, mines came with Lafranconi exhaust fitted. The handling is respectable and it’s easy to work on, the finish isn’t bad but not up to Honda standards, mines in totally original condition except for fork gaiters. The most important thing is how a bike makes you feel and when I go for a ride, I get the biggest grin and always have a blast and even now I have to look back as I walk away. More often than not when I stop for fuel someone comes over to ask/talk about the bike. All this and it’s rarer than a Le Mans. What more could you want! |
