I bought one of these bikes new in 1973. A year later I bought another one from a friend that needed to sell his and I became the proud owner of two of these bikes. I rode with a buddy that swore by the Yamaha 360 which was a little faster, but to me the 250 ruled. | ||||||
It was a little lighter and easier to maneuver off road. I could usually keep up to the 360 or often make this bike out perform the 360. It was amazing how much abuse this bike could take. We had a jump that we would go over where we were airborne for 40 or 50 feet. I went over the jump so many times that eventually the weight of the tail light broke the rear fender off. I currently have a Kawasaki 250 KLX which is much more high tech, however, like all of the new dual purpose bikes, the seat height is too high. To me the 1973 DT250 is still a better all around bike which was more fun to ride. |
