Threadlocker vs aluminum threads

My 87 FXRT acts like the aluminum alloy breaks down whenever I use any threadlocker on aluminum threads. I´ve taken to running a tap thru aluminum holes where threadlocker was previously used, and inspecting, or wirebrushing the bolts prior to reassembly. Any of you noticed anything like that? I have the four long bolts in my oil pump that aren´t tightening correctly and are leaking beyond acceptability. Are the older casings a poor quality alloy? Is it breaking down with time? I´ve had to install two Helicoils to get the rocker covers to tighten up. Oil pump is next.
