Panhead looks like a brownie pan. Knucklehead has very large nuts on the rocker shafts resembling knuckles. There are no rocker boxes on a flathead, it is a side valve construction. Blockhead is squared looking. (blockhead´s are evo) And an Ironhead looks like a shovelhead unless you know the difference. The Ironhead sportster has 2 different style of rocker boxes, but why call it an Ironhead, because between 1957 to 1985 1/2 these were made with Cast Iron heads, where as the other´s I mention have aluminum heads.
