83 Honda CB 550 SC discussion forum:

Sorry to be blunt, \´you can\´t\´. I tried the same thing, I even changed jets, adjusted fuel mixture, changed float level, even ran with the chock on [that was the only way to get to run]. I ended up going back to the factory air intake and it actually runs great, good power, good fuel mileage, idles good. The problem with the \´pod\´ style air filters is that they run the engine way too lean, I used them on my older CB 750 and it worked great, but not on the smaller 550 engine. Save yourself the aggravation and go stock. Iradium spark plugs and hot plug wires work well.
Good luck Steve. Les [just an old Honda man].
