spark plug and bolt covers

I was given a set of chrome bolt covers sometime back. Unsure what bike they fit on. I have a 96 fatboy, one of the covers will fit on the front sparkplug but the other one doesnt clear the sparkplug on the back part of the engine. Both covers are the same. spark plugs are the same. can anyone tell me why one fits one side and not the other?
