Jack, check your ignition´s ground wire. A lot of times these old bikes will get some corrosion on the grounds, especially the ignition because of its location. It sees more weather than some other parts on the bike. If this does not pose a problem, check the switch with an ohmeter. If it bounces around irratically, you more than likely have bad contacts in your switch. Get a replacement, your bike is worth it.
