I think it is just the way they made this one. I took the whole side case out and noticed that the copper coils that help generate the electricity are sealed up inside some kind of resin. It is made to sit in oil. Normally the copper coil isnĀ“t in oil. Quite a lot different than and alternator on a Chevy.
