I had similar problems. If the petcock is damaged/leaking, it may overflow the float bowls. When this overflowing occurs, gas will find its way into the engIine oil. When this occurs, you may have problems with the engine racing or idle not holding. You will basically have erratic engine behavior. In order to detect the issue, you will want to smell the oil (for gas), check for white foam within the oil check window, or check the consistency of the oil (should be thick). If you find you have gas mixed with your oil, you can either fix the petcock or put a inline gas valve within the fuel line tubing. The inline gas valve can be purchased at any lawnmower parts store. Hope this helps. |
