1100 trouble
Shawn Briggs said 2005-11-14 16:58
I just bought a 1992 GSXR750 with an GSXR1100 engine which I thought was a 1992. It was not working - the engine needed third gears(drive and driven), and an intake valve. I also changed crankshaft bearings while I was at it. (they were slightly discolored). All these parts I ordered for a 1992 GSXR1100. All worked well except the intake valve. when compared to the other intake valves, the distance from the groove in the stem(where the locks fit) to the top of the valve was slightly longer. The shim was therfore not seated right and when we started the engine, the valve jumped out, hit the piston and was bent. luckily the piston was not damaged. I think the problem is with the year of the engine but how can I confirm this. My engine no. is Z710-118221. Any help will be greatly appreciated
