RE: Best Exhaust and Tires for 1997 VFR 750

A lot of VFR owners use Bridgestone BT20 tires. They are excellent for touring, sun or rain, and will gladly take the abuse if you get in that scratchy mood... They last quite long (unless you rely too much on engine brake or are a skid-mark artist), cost less than michelin´s or Metzeler´s. The other main reason why I use these is that they have a special feel when you are just about to slide your rear wheel, like an early, fair, warning. Subtle, but enough... Now, about mufflers, a lot of the same VFR owners tend to go for Two Brothers Racing carbon fiber pipes (gorgeous sound) or Yoshimura(a classic). If you want more show than go you might like the sound of D&D or Staintune mufflers. D&D´s are LOUD. Too much for my taste. Two Brothers carbon fiber pipe really lets that glorious V4 sound shine through, and if you want your machine to sound like a lion on the verge of taking off , this is what you can do: there is a soft, curved plastic air intake like a "snorkel" coming out of the front of the air filter box (under the tank). Take it off. It´s an easy and reversible operation. You first have to take the tank off and open the filter box. Then pry off the snorkel and put everything back. Et voilà! Lastly, if you change your muffler, ask the dealer exactly what has to be consequently done to the carburation (re-jetting or not re-jetting, taht is the question). Have yahself sum fun! David.
