Doing the carbs yourself is not hard at all. I have the exact same bike minus the wiring problems as mine is in new condition. To clean them just remove them and make sure the jets are clear of any blocks. Being an older bike the tank is probably full of gunk as mine was so I just added a fuel filter (the smallest one i could find at Canadian Tire each cost me about $3 Can) to each line from the tank to the carb. Also as far as setting them goes there is an adjustment screw on the outside of each carb, turn both as tight as they will go (not to snug) then make 2 full turns on each side. Start the bike and see how that works, if its not right turn them a little either way but make sure you do this evenly as you want both carbs to run the exact same.
