RE: I Got Mine

I hadn´t noticed the clamp marks on the forks but have noticed that much of what looks like chrome is actually platsic and I agree- cheesy is a good word, but, I suppose they have to keep costs down somehow. In spite of a comment in one of the mags about it being $1500 more than the Kawasaki 2000, I still think that $16,000 is very reasonable for what you get.
Interesting your observation about slow sales in Sacramento. I was at my dealer in central Mass. yesterday for the first time since I bought the bike. I was told that the first six that people had ordered even before production began all went out the door on time and there have been no complaints; the dealer was then able to procure 3 additional machines and these have not sold. I was told that there have been many lookers but no takers. He told me many people are intimidated by the machine. I looked at him quizzically. He said, "Well look at it, it´s huge." I said, "I suppose...." My experience has been that this machine should be no problem for a moderately experienced rider. He then said for that matter they have had one Kawasaki 2000 on the floor since May and that hasn´t sold for the same reason, even after dropping the price a couple times. Oh well, I have no regrets about buying the RIII and have over 2000 miles on it.
