I live in South Africa, and this is BMW country. I first owned a 1995 KLE. I then stumbled upon a second hand 2001 model with only 2300km on the clock. What a fantastic all rounder. It is cheaper than any of its rivals eg: BMW 650 GS, Aprilia Pegaso, XF 650 Freewind and has a sixth gear and most extras come standard ie: handguards, disc covers and forkboots. I recently fitted a high-rise screen which makes a great difference, a 30 liter top box with high light and best of all heated grips which work beautifully. I have done a bit of light offroad riding and the long travel suspension is great. My only complaint is the seat, which I wish were more gentle on the bum. Kawasaki should design a seat similar to that of the BMW 650 GS. On long trips my bum suffers a bit. All in all a superb bike which is unfortunately very under rated in this country.
