I´m pretty sure an error was made in identifying the 305´s motor as a 2-stroke. You can see it has a 4-stroke cylinder head. And then there is Honda´s commitment to 4-strokes. The Elsinores, 125cc and 250cc motocrossers, were extraordinary bikes for Honda. It was a concession; 2-strokes had a substantially greater power-to-weight ratio and 4-strokes could not compete. Honda would go on to rectify this inequity and make powerful 4-stroke single-cylinder bikes such as the one that upset BMW´s record of victories in the Paris-Dakkar Race, which BMW was thought to own.
