MY BIKE WILL NOT START. HELP!

Hi,

RE: MY BIKE WILL NOT START

I rently bought a Honda VFR750 1997(P. The bike has only covered 2,649 genuine miles though was running rough/not on all cylinders due to lack of use + petrol had gone off.

Since bringing it home on the back of my pick-up it will not start at all and back fires in the attempt. I have emptied the old petrol by removing the fuel tap under the tank, cleaned the spark plugs and removed the carbs to ensure the jets were not blocked + seemed all OK. I have checked one spark plug for a spark that was fine.

Before I consider taking to a m/c shop to hopefully diagnose & fix the problem I wondered if any of you had any other suggestion for me to check first?

Thank you.

kind regards

Phil
