Hi Mike, why are you changing the stanchions! I hope thats not a daft question! anyway, after phoning a few mates I removed the seal in no time, slacken the nut at the top of the stanchion with the air valve in after releasing what little air there is,then remove that alloy nut, support the bike so that the front wheel is in the air, remove wheel then remove mudguard bolts etc,I removed the brake caliper complete prior to wheel, slacken all the bolts supporting the stanchion, 2 at top and 2 in thd middle, the stanchion can now be removed, watch though there are parts in there and the spring, so careful and remove in the right order! once you have removed stanchion and fork leg place the fork leg in a vice and remove the (6mm allen key) bolt from the very bottom of the fork leg, remember there is fork oil in there which will spill out, once the bolt is removed there will be parts that will come out of the stanchion if you were to turn it upside down and a part still in the fork leg which the bolt goes through and bolts onto the part you have removed from the stanchion, I hope i´m not making it sound difficult mike! its not, with a little mechanical knowlege and careful as you are removing parts you will see how they go, anyway, once thats done remove the dust cover and there is a little clip holding in the seal, once removed a little pulling if the staunchion and holding the fork leg at the same time and out the staunchion will pop. I hope this helps mike, I am going for new seals tomorrow and at that point I will find out how much fork oil and pressure is required which if you need I will let you know, Regards Alistair
