I owned an RD 250 from 1977-1992. It was white with red/orange pinstriping. It used to bug me that it was not a 350, so I removed the 250 isignia off side panels. The 350 had such a monstous reputation, and the 250 was a rare unknown element in my small mind. I recall that I averaged between 45-50 mpg. The only other 250 that I could not whip off the line was the Suzuki model, however, I could overtake it when the speeds reached 70 mph. The fastest I ever went was around 95mph. I had put a plexi-screen on it as I live in Seattle and rain is an issue and I rode year round. Points, plugs and brake pads in 15 years of riding. Approximately 55,000 miles. Was losing top end rpm when I sold it to a guy who had grown up with one just like it. He put a new top end in and I still see it round town occasionally.
