Bought my sportster about 1000 miles ago. I really like the bike. It had been setting up for about 2yrs when I bought it so I went through it and cleaned up tank and carb. Made a few replacements. Had a mechanic replace the handlebars with new drags and accessories. After about 400 miles the throttle cable broke. A tech told me it was most likely because the replacement had not been greased when it was installed. I greased the new one myself and have put 600 plus miles on it since. I don´t have a return on it and when I roll off I can accelorate rolling the grip forward. I was wondering if not greasing the cable does actually cause it to break and though it doesn´t seem likely, does the return cable prevent accelorating with forward twist on the grip.
