Lowering by replacing shocks

Hi I´d like to lower my 883r by 2-3 inches. I heard that replacing the rear shocks will accomplish this but don´t know how large to get them. I understand the Harley Forty Eight has a similar frame and uses 11.5 inch shocks. Would these work on my 883r? If not do you know any that will? Thanks.
