Am I ready?

Have been riding for a little over 1 year on a starter bike, Yamaha Virago 250, mostly city and suburb driving, no real highway yet, just 45-55 mph on parkway type multi-lane roads. I think I´m up for a Harley, but am I? Am female, 50-something, and weigh about 125. I sat on a Sportster Custom 883 and it felt right, but I´m a bit chicken to try it out. Am window-shopping for a used one, but don´t want a Sportster that´s too old. Advice appreciated...
