Help please!

I have a new XL883 and don´t really want to be forking out for the official Harley workshop manual.

It "pops" if the throttle is twisted in anger - is this usual does anyone know?

Can anyone tell me if it´s possible to check the ignition timing?

Final question - this is probably me being dim.... does it have a trip on the odometer? I can only get it to switch between miles and kilometres.
