750 Monster Throtle stopes working in 4th gear

750 Monster Throtle stopes working in 4th gear

While in 4th gear, the throtle seemed to stop working. Bike was running, no way to excellerate or engage the throtle. Not sure if I am explaining it correctly. Bike was running fine and without any warning this happens. Exhaust pipes seem extremely black inside. Any ideas. Gayle
